Last Update (New Section 3.1)
Dragons of Abyss was founded in December of 2003 and has existed ever since. We built our foundation from the ground up multiple times in multiple situations. We have the experienced and qualified leadership that it takes to make a guild successful. Our leaders have also placed themselves in other guilds for further experience in what causes a guild to succeed and fail. With all of that in mind we have created Dragons of Abyss here on Korialstrasz, Alliance side, with a couple goals in mind. Our first is to be the best we can be. Our second is to enjoy the game that we all spend the same amount a month to play.
1.0 Guild Type
We are defined as a Hardcore Raiding Guild. However, our view on this definition isn't typical of others. The primary difference, is our guild will allow lower level toons into the guild. We do not normally have many lower levels outside of Alts, and don't tend to put a lot of effort into our lower level members. The majority of our members are serious raiders and spend most of their time doing so. Being a raider requires effort, knowledge, and skill. Please read on to learn about our expectations.
2.0 Raiding
2.1 Schedule
Our schedule is focused around the best raid times for our members. A consistent team is very important to push progression, so we will rework schedules to keep our team running together. If you are not able to consistently make times, don't agree to a team, but feel free to agree to be a fill-in if the Raid Leader needs. Events are placed up on the calendar. You are expected to check your calendar for these and respond to the invites. Do not accept if you probably won't be there, it's terribly inconvenient and rude to the other raiders. All schedules are subject to change and are controlled by the Raid Leaders in agreement with their team. Please get in touch with a Raid Leader or the Guild Master for a complete schedule.
2.2 Teams
All permanent raid spots are competitive. We favor those who can always show and those who can perform optimally. A team needs to have consistent members to progress quickly, so always work on improving yourself to keep your raid spot! Invites are up on the calendar from your Raid Leader. Please check your calendar to accept or decline invites from your team. The team makeup is also very important and subject to change by the Raid Leader. Our guild has multiple teams. They go by a name rather than by a number, so no one feels like any one team is better than another. If you see more Officers on one team, that is because they were probably in the guild longer, meaning they were on the team from earlier on. Check our Forums or speak with a Raid Leader or Guild Master in-game to learn about the teams.
2.3 Progression
As stated previously, we are focused on progression as quickly as possible. As also stated, progression is pushed faster and easier by consistency amongst raiders. We always start with normal mode progression followed by hardmode progression, as soon as the Raid Leader feels the team is ready. To push progression, people need to be prepared with prior fight knowledge, either via videos, literature, or experience. Raid Leaders understand the "burnout" factor and will not allow its raiders to feel that if they can help it. If a team is banging it's head against the wall getting nowhere, the raid may be called early and get in the next scheduled day to start fresh.
2.4 Loot
Our Loot system favors fairness for all members and PuG's.
We use an open /roll method. Priority is as follows:
- Main Spec, Main Gear Type (Cloth, Leather, Mail, Plate)
- Main Stat Usage (Spirit to Healing-type Classes, Hit to DPS, AGI, STR, Dodge, Etc.)
- Main Spec, Separate Gear Type/Stat Usage
- Off Spec, Main or Separate Gear Type/Stat Usage
If no one can use it, the item will be disenchanted and thrown into the Guild Bank. If it's a BoE and no one needed it, the item will be placed into the Guild Bank for later use or to be sold. Please read about the Guild Bank below for further information. All Crafting Materials will be placed in the Guild Bank. All Recipes will be rolled on for use, and if not needed, placed in the Guild Bank.
2.5 General Raid Rules
Invites go out 10 minuets prior to the start time dictated on the calendar. Please be on if you are expecting an invite. Please be fully repaired and have any necessary reagents for the night. A Flask or Two Potions as well as a Food Buff is required. If your Raid Leader is not supplying this, please have it on your toon. It is intolerable to come to a raid night unprepared. Please be prepared to stay through the full duration of the raid. This is generally 2-4 hours long depending on team and the actual raid/day. If you are unsure of the duration, please speak with your Raid Leader. If you cannot make a raid or cannot stay for the full duration, please get in touch with your Raid Leader prior to the raid and let them know. If possible, have a replacement in mind so you aren't just leaving your Raid Leader empty handed. Real life exists and we just ask you to be courteous and let others know so you don't just bail on them. If an emergency comes up and you have to go in the middle of the raid, please let the leader know and please do not make a habit of it. They do happen, but they don't happen every night for your, unless you are a fireman or a police officer playing while you're supposed to be working. Finally, if you receive something from the Guild Bank and it is seen on the AH, or if you win a pattern or BoE epic and it is seen on the AH, you will be confronted. If there isn't a good reason for this, you may be off of the team or out of the guild. Never buy an item off of another team member or PuG. It's absolutely not okay to do this. We have an open roll for a reason. We ask if you see someone do it, or have a member ask you to buy something, please let the Guild Master know and it will be taken care of.
3.0 Guild Utilities and Ranks
3.1 In-Game Chat
In-Game Chat needs to be respected. It is there to communicate with other guildies and to assist in getting groups together, discussing guild related material, and to talk with our friends. However, there is to never be anything in Guild Chat that can be found offensive. This includes any racial comments, sexual comments, or anything insulting to or about other members or non-members. If you feel the need to act out, do it in a whisper with a friend or just don't do it at all. We are a mature guild that realizes other people are watching Guild Chat, and friends and family of those people may be watching. It is never okay to offend people or talk badly about PuG's behind their backs in guild chat. We pride ourselves on being more mature about things than other guilds, and if we start doing this, we are just as bad as they are. Please realize this and be respectful while in the guild and speaking in Guild Chat.
3.2 Website
We would like people to visit our website frequently to keep updated on information and to use that as another community page in addition to the game. Not everyone can log on all the time, but having forums is a beautiful addition to a website to get in touch with one another. It's also a great place to let people know what you can do for them or what you like to do in the game. We also put up polls that help develop the guild further and help us gather valuable information. Please keep the guild site a place for mature discussions. Avoid using profanity, and be a nice guy/girl. Don't flame other people. A good policy is, "If you don't have something good to say, don't say anything at all." Fight information and Guild News is consistently posted on the website, so be sure to use it.
3.3 Ventrilo
Vent is a vital part of raiding and a great way to grow closer to guild mates. For a lot of people it is odd talking on the phone or on vent to someone you don't know just to do it. With that in mind, we ask that everyone please be polite on vent. Our vent is currently a 25 man server, meaning not every single member will be able to be on at the same time. When we are raiding, we need the spots in vent for our raiders. Please be polite and log out of vent while we are doing this. If only one 10-Man or 2 10-Mans are running there will be spots open in vent, however if one 25-Man is running there will not. If deemed necessary, we will open either a second supplementary vent server, or expand our current vent server to a larger size. When this is found necessary, we will ask around to see if anyone is willing to do this, or if anyone is willing to donate to purchase a larger vent server. More information on this will be provided if/when this happens. When it comes to raiding, you are expected to have vent and be able to speak. Please do not stream music unless you are in the Music Channel.
3.4 Guild Bank
Our Guild Bank is for our entire Guild. We primarily focus on the current content. All Cataclysm items will be held in the bank with some Lich King items still around if there is room. Everyone can see the bank, and donate. Please feel free to donate. If you need something from the bank, speak to a Guild Master or Co-Master to get it. All Crafting Materials, Patterns, and unwanted BoE Epics will be placed in the Guild Bank. Any and all of these may be sold within the same week. If you need any of these, be sure to contact the Guild master or Co-Master A.S.A.P.! For a majority of items we charge 50% of the going AH price. This is to fund the Guild Bank and to give you a great deal. Depending on the person needing it, the reason for needing it, and the item, a deal may be worked out. Please do not sell any items you receive from the Guild Bank on the AH. If this is seen, you may lose permission to receive items, be demoted, or lose membership in the guild.

4.0 Member Expectations
4.1 New Recruits
If you join the raid and are signed up to raid, please make all the raids during your trial period. You can receive loot as a Recruit, so you have no reason to miss a raid. No one at the rank Recruit can receive items from the Guild Bank, please be patient. This is the time to decide if you are a fit for the guild or not. Not everyone is, either the guild can see you as not being a fit, or you can see yourself as not being a fit and make a decision within this week. If you are a fit, one week after enlistment you will become a Member.
4.2 Raiders
The Raider rank is given to those who show for raids. If you stop showing, you will lose the rank. You are expected to show early to raids and be ready. We do understand if you just got home and are struggling to get on early enough and have everything for the night, just be courteous about that and let us know. Most likely, someone can pick up the slack and bring you a couple flasks, etc. But please do not make a habit of this.
4.3.1 Officers - General Officers (O)
All General Officers are expected to speak with people if asked to do so. General Officers need to pay attention to the guild while they are online and make sure things are running smoothly. You will be included in a lot of decision making, so please have an opinion and a good reasoning behind that opinion.
4.3.2 Officers - Raid Leaders (RL)
Raid Leaders are expected to develop their team and always show to their raids. As a Raid Leader you must schedule the raids and place them up on the calendar for your team mates. Please be prepared with knowledge of fights and a good attitude to get the job done. All Raid Teams will use the same Loot Method of the Open /roll Method. Please familiarize yourself with it. You need to understand Raid Composition and what each role/class should be doing in each fight to make the Raid a success. If you have any questions about leading raids, speak with the Guild Master.
4.3.3 Officers - Class Leader (CL)
As a Class Leader, you must know everything about your class. As well, you must be willing to work with anyone of your class that needs help or asks for help. Knowledge is power and if everyone understands their class's capabilities, then everyone will be able to play at the top of their class for their gear.
4.3.4 Officers - Recruitment Officer (RO)
A Recruitment Officer must keep in touch with current needs of teams and the guild as a whole. With this in mind, the Recruit Officer must then find what that team needs. Looking in Trade, in various groups you run, friends, friends' friends, and on various websites are all acceptable forms of recruitment tools.
4.4 All Members
Everyone is expected to make the guild look good. Do not do anything that could harm the appearance of the guild. That means don't make us look bad by saying something stupid in Trade, or insulting people relentlessly because you think they are a bad player. Remember anyone can see your guild tag, and the guild's reputation is very important. If you see anyone harming the appearance of the guild, please let an Officer, Co-Master, or Guild Master know.
These rules are all here to be followed. Please make sure you have read these prior to joining the guild, or shortly after. These are all outlined so no one has an excuse of not knowing what's going on and what our policies are. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please speak with the Guild Master and we will get it settled.
